My name is Katelin Hoffman and I was in the Orphanage from 1970-1972. I was assigned #14. I have been working to hold the Catholic Diocese responsible for the abuse at the orphanage since 1993 and am an active member of Voices of St. Joseph’s Orphanage group and the writers’ group.  I started a Facebook page and two groups to help former residents of the orphanage, relatives and other interested persons share their experiences and express their truths, no longer dying with secrets of the abuse they and others suffered which they were not responsible for nor could control. This line from a poem I wrote while at the orphanage sums up my experience there: "Please, Mr. Man in the Moon, help me to be like you are, to just watch but not know nor feel what is happening.”  I live in Burlington VT with my 4-legged furry family.
